Three-time champion Azarenka qualified for the semi-finals in Miami
Three-time champion Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) qualified for the semi-finals of the strong tennis tournament in Miami (USA) with a prize pool of 7, 97 million dollars.The world`s former number 1 Azarenka won 7:5, 6:3 on the fifth place in the Carolina Pliskovova (Czech Republic) chart and her 11th consecutive victory in the race, starting in 2016 at her last trophy.
With the winner, Belarus, the 186th in the world, is guaranteed to return to the top 100 next week.
Azarenka missed eight months for a custodial suit by returning to the court in early March for the Indian Wells tournament.
She continued her great series in Miami and against Pliskova, although she was initially wasting two breaks and a lead of 5:2 but still took the first set.
The second part began with four consecutive beats, and then Azarenka won four of the next five games from questions - soccer tips to triumph.
For a place in the final, she will face the host`s representative and US Open champion Sloan Stevens.
25-year-old Stevens handed another former number 1 Angelique Kerber (Germany) with 6:1, 6:2 in just over an hour, and on Monday he will make his debut in the top 10 of the world rankings.
