Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto appreciated the decisions of the Red Bull bridge during the sprint at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, and also spoke about the fight with Mercedes.


Carlos Sainz finished second, Charles Leclerc finished sixth.


According to the boss of the Scuderia, the progress of Mercedes, which will start Sunday`s race from the front row, has become expected.


The difficulties we experienced in Mexico are behind us, at least for now. The sprint was a good snack before Sunday`s race. We expect there will be many pit stops, as tire degradation is significant, there will be good battles.


Mercedes is very strong and I`m not surprised because we`ve been focusing on the development of the 2023 car for a while now and the rivals have brought updates to the US and Mexico. I think next year the battle for the title will not be between the two teams, - said Mattia in an interview with Sky Sport.


Binotto believes Red Bull driver Max Verstappen should have given way to Sergio Perez during the sprint. Verstappen struggled, but did not give an extra point to his teammate, who is fighting Leclerc for second place in the championship.


I`m very surprised they didn`t change positions. It was a very simple decision, in fact mandatory, but they did not accept it. Strange - they also have problems with riders understanding them.


Second place in the Constructors` Championship, as well as in the individual competition, would be a good result. We will try to provide Leclerc with the best conditions for success, " the manager said.
